Weather Impact on Ferry over the Weekend View this email in your browser Dear Owners, We are anticipating gale force winds beginning tomorrow at 2pm and carrying into Sunday. The Breeze is in dry dock getting its Coast Guard Inspection and will be out of service until Monday. That leaves the Islander as the primary boat. We anticipate canceled runs at some point tomorrow afternoon or evening. We will use the Parker when necessary, but with rain in the forecast that may also be unavailable. Special Meeting of the DIPOA Board 10.21.26 – 6pm View this email in your browser Notice of a Special Meeting of the Dewees Island Property Owners Board of Directors Dear Dan Johnson, The DIPOA Board of Directors requests that you, as Secretary of the DIPOA, notify the community of a special meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026 6:00 eastern time. Per Section 6.11 of our bylaws: Section 6.11 Special Meetings. The President or any three (3) Directors may call a special meeting of the Board by filing with the Secretary a written request for such meeting, stating the purpose(s) and matter(s) to be considered. Only such business specified in the notice shall be conducted at such meeting except as may be authorized by Section 6.13. Special meetings, with the exception of Executive Sessions, shall be open to Owners. Advance notice of any special meeting of the Board must be given at least five (5) days prior thereto… The purposes and matters to be considered are as follows: 1. Alternate proposal, “Plan Zero,” to the Ferry Pass Plan known as “Plan J.”             a. Potential amendments to either ferry pass plan 2.Budget amendments necessary to accommodate either plan 3.Address messaging and communications from unauthorized channels To be perfectly honest, the community’s response to this change has largely been supportive. However, a very vocal minority has continued to advance its agenda, and I am deeply disappointed in the conduct of some friends and neighbors. Part of this special meeting will be dedicated to regaining control of the messaging to our community, as well as to off-island observers. Hurricane Isaias View this email in your browser Dear Owners, While it appears that Dewees Island will not be directly impacted by Hurricane Isaias, it is still prudent to prepare for inclement weather. There will be high winds and rain over the weekend which could impact Ferry Service and Emergency response on and off island. You may also want to move your vehicles closer to the Marina Office which is the high ground of the parking lot. If you do experience an emergency please be sure to dial 911.
